What are you Looking for?

THE FIELD: The need to search

Mt 13:44 “The kingdom of heaven is like treasure that was hidden in a field. When a man found it, he hid it again. He was very happy. So he went and sold everything he had. And he bought that field.

This is a most interesting story. The Kingdom of God represents the out working of His will on earth through man. This is what God desires his Kingdom to look and act like upon the earth. This kingdom is a treasure, an expression of God’s plan in real life and time. This is not some spooky story about a far off Kingdom that is sneaking up onus. This is a story of discovery. This is a search for something tangible.  Mankind has always been searching out new lands and pushing into the unknown. We will see in this simple one verse of scripture a great revelation concerning our destiny. Here lays a gem of inspiration for us all.

There’s nothing more exciting than a treasure hunt. This man was simply walking through a field. Now, according to biblical interpretation we can say the field represents the world. (Matt. 13:37)

This treasure was hidden in a field, somewhere in the world. This is interesting in that this treasure was available to anyone just out for a walk. We are ever at the threshold of discovery. Although the text does not release the identity of this treasure, we know it made this man very happy. I present to you the concept of; your life’s calling. This man was so excited by what he found that he was willing to sell all he had and buy this piece of real-estate. The interesting part is that he hid it again which allowed his joy level to reach a peak and give him time for preparation. The level of joy resulted in him purchasing the field. The field was the holder of his joy. What was it he found? What created such joy that he sold all he had to purchase the field?

It is in the room that you search the field for your treasure. There are many things that are available for us, yet we fail to stumble upon them because we are not putting ourselves in the position of discovery. We have become so limited in our scope of interest that we overlook the possibilities. The world is at our finger-tips today through technology.  It says he “hid it again” in the field.

This represents the pondering of possibility in his heart. We all need to dream more. Your desire is to be more than you are. To be more prosperous, knowledgeable, understanding, or even to have time restraints removed. The time set aside each week to pursue your future. The future you decide, not settling for what has been dealt to you by society or circumstances?

Ps 37:3 Trust in the LORD and do good.
Then you will live in the land and enjoy its food.
Ps 37:4 find your delight in the LORD.
Then he will give you everything your heart really wants.
Ps 37:5 commit your life to the LORD.
Here is what he will do if you trust in him.
Ps 37:6 He will make your godly ways shine like the dawn.
He will make your honest life shine like the sun at noon.
Ps 37:7be still. Be patient. Wait for the LORD to act.
Don’t be upset when other people succeed.
Don’t be upset when they carry out their evil plans.

We must trust in the Lord and do well if we are to partake of the good of the land and enjoy its food. It is possible to live happy, and full of joy. This joy is what causes us to commit to the purchase of something that we found as we travel this kingdom life.

Lk 12:32 “Little flock, do not be afraid. Your Father has been pleased to give you the kingdom.

It is God’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom. As we live and search, we will find. This treasure was placed here just for you. We can only surmise what this man found, maybe gold or some other precious ore. Whatever it was it brought him joy. There is no better feeling than to be happy about your life. We become happy when we endeavor to do what we were created to do. Maybe you should go for a walk. Take time to search and see what is out there. We have allowed ourselves to be so controlled by our present circumstances that we never consider a better plan.

We walk not in fields as this man did, but in the fields of information. There is at our finger-tips today the whole world. This world has been available to most, yet walked among by few. Some say this world is a bad place, and we need to be careful. This is an excuse to settle and not be kingdom minded. We are told that the gates of hell shall not prevail against us. This should be enough knowledge to push us out the front door and do something. Find your place in this world. Stake a claim on your SPOT. This man was so excited about what he found, that he sold everything. Have you ever been that excited about anything?

Ps 37:4 find your delight in the LORD.
Then he will give you everything your heart really wants.

This man went and sold everything he had. To sell everything you own would take some time. This would not be an easy task. To place your delight in the Lord releases everything your heart desires. We need to understand that we have lived below our opportunities. Many are fearful to dream and desire for better things, a better life, a better job, and especially, just maybe, have their own business. The ROOM is the place of discovery, seeking out the field to see what you find that creates such joy that you would give it all to purchase.

Now, I do not want to offend anyone here, but what he found was not eternal life or God. We cannot purchase or buy our salvation, and God is not for sale. I do not believe that his selling all he had was just a metaphor of total commitment. He actually committed, wholeheartedly to this purchase. We too often spiritualize everything, at the expense of taking action toward a kingdom infused experience.

The kingdom of heaven is like a treasure. Our scope of the kingdom of God has been limited long enough. We must accept the fact that God is bigger and greater than we have allowed Him to be. We have placed His ability to work in our lives into small religious bottles that we sell as kingdom tonic to those that dare not search the field for more. We must release ourselves into the world as Kingdom explorers, to find our place, our destiny, our field. This will be clearer as you go to your ROOM and search.

When we place ourselves into the ROOM, we will find our desires awaken. It is time to stop playing safe.

“Don’t sleep through your dream!”  Erwin McManus: Seizing your divine moment

As we step into the open fields of life, we must allow ourselves to dream. This is not a fairy tale type of dream, but Futuristic Non-Fiction is the planning and speaking of your future while living and searching in the present. Our words hold the power of creation. We search for information that supports our desire. We gather information that causes us to dream. We then must do one of the hardest things for us all, take action; one with substance and form.

In the ROOM we search the world through technology. We find all the information needed to pursue and prepare ourselves for the future we have envisioned. As you gather pieces of information, an outline will begin to form. You will see how gathering information and searching for answers causes excitement and hope to rise within your heart. This is one of the most powerful times in the ROOM. It is here that your destiny is birthed into the real world. An incarnation of your future released in time and space. This is what I have coined as, “Futuristic Non-Fiction.”
